About me

I’m a writer, educator, and commentator on international politics, with over two decades of experience across academia, policy, and media. My work focuses on rising powers (think BRICS), the geopolitics of the Middle East and Latin America, and the personalities who insist on leading it all — for better or worse.

Alongside research and analysis, I’ve taught politics, public policy, and international relations at universities in Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, and worked with organisations like the UNDP, World Bank, DfID, and the Austrian Development Agency.

I’m also the creator and host of Ten Minutes On…, a short-format podcast offering quick, sharp takes on unfolding global events — ideal for those who like their current affairs with context and minimal waffle. And since 2023, I’ve co-hosted The FootPol Podcast, which explores the murky, entertaining intersection of politics and football.

I hold a PhD in Government from the LSE, and continue to write, speak and think about the world’s political dramas — the serious, the absurd, and the ones that manage to be both at once.
